First Aid Courses
WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid
No prior first aid knowledge is required to be a participate, however, participants must be at least 16 years of age and physically capable of maneuvering other participants acting as patients. *Your registration is considered as 'pending' until payment is completed by you or your company. Until this happens, your spot in the course is not guaranteed.
Basic First Aid (Formerly OFA1)
This one-day course covers:
- The role and duties of an Occupational First Aid Attendant.
- Scene assessment.
- Primary survey.
- Airway assessment with C-Spine control.
- Breathing assessment. Circulatory assessment.
- Secondary survey.
- Vital signs.
- History-taking.
- Head-to-toe examination.
- Medical emergencies.
- Skin and soft tissue anatomy and function.
- Management of soft tissue injuries.
Intermediate FA (Formerly OFA)
Intermediate First Aid Courses Coming Mid-Late 2025!
This two-day course covers:
- The role and duties of an Occupational First Aid Attendant.
- Scene assessment.

Advanced FA (Formerly OFA3)
Advanced First Aid Courses Coming Mid-Late 2025!
This 2-week course covers:
- The role and duties of an Advanced First Aid Attendant.
- Head-to-toe examination.
- Operate oxygen therapy equipment and insert oral airways.
- Medical emergencies.
- Skin and soft tissue anatomy and function.
- Management of soft tissue injuries.
- Principles of burn management.
- Ligament and tendon injuries.
- Manage soft tissue injuries.
- Manage oxygen therapy equipment.
- Patient positioning.
- Critical incident stress.
- Manage Oral Airway.
Transportation Endorsement
*Must bring current first aid certification to the course to show your instructor.
This one-day course covers:
- Review of the Priority Action Approach.
- Patient handling and lifting techniques.
- Patient assessment and treatment during transport.
- How to apply a hard collar.
- How to secure a patient to spine board for transport via ambulance or helicopter.
BC Jurisprudence Package
This is for individuals with first aid certification not from WorkSafeBC (i.e. Red Cross or St. John's Ambulance) but who need to use their certification in their workplace.
Upon completion, a WorkSafeBC 'Out-of-Jurisdiction' certificate is issued.
- Must be 16 years of age to become certified.
- Must be physically and mentally capable to perform duties.
- Fees include course textbook and one pocket mask per student.
- Companies should refer to WorkSafeBC OHS Guidelines G#17 to determine the level of first aid for your business. Schedule 3-A for the minimum level of first aid.

Red Cross First Aid
The Red Cross is dedicated to keeping their courses available for all who wish to gain the knowledge of how to help another; these courses do not have a certain pre-requisite, however, some courses do require the participate to be physical so please be aware of your body's strengths and abilities.
Emergency First Aid
This eight (8) hour course will teach you the basics of first aid including the emergency action principles, airway emergencies, CPR (adult-only or adult, child and infant), use of an AED (defibrillator), and sudden medical conditions.
Emergency Childcare First Aid
This eight (8) hour course teaches you the basics of first aid including the emergency action principles, airway emergencies, single person CPR (Adult, Child, and infant), child-specific medical emergencies, and soft tissue injuries with splinting.
CPR-C
This six (6) hour course teaches you the basics of responding to an emergency, airway and breathing management, and CPR with AED for adult, child, and infant.
